Characterize The Protagonist

Thesis Assertion: The narrator, who at first loves pets or animals and his wife, turns violent towards them and even kills his wife, as a result of alcohol addiction. Alcohol craving as a kind of illness, its implications and illustrations from personal experience.

In the “The Dark Cat” (1843) by Edgar Allan Poe, the protagonist and his wife love animals and have a number of them. The protagonist favorite pet was a dark cat named Pluto. Due to his addiction to alcohol he eventually ends up killing his favorite pet and his wife. The narrator, who originally loves family pets and his wife, turns violent towards them and even kills his wife, as a result of alcohol addiction. Alcohol dependency as a kind of illness, its implications and illustrations from personal experience.

In the biging of the tale, the narrator is normally a evening before he dies and clarifies the reasons why he’s in prison. First of all he mention that he is always fond of pets and his wife likewise shard this love. That they had a variety of pets, including the cat named Pluto which the narrator was specifically fond of. As the story goes on the narrator addiction to alcohol got worse taking the very best out of him. His illness drives him to own dilutions of the cat that steering clear of him while he was drunk. And later on drives him to eliminate his wife.

It seems to me that a clear explanation of his addiction is not given in the account. Around that point of the story liquor was something a lot of men got addicted to. Perhaps we could claim how do you write a research paper that poverty and such issues had something to do with the problem. But nonetheless you can only assume. We could also assume that a reason as to the reasons he became dependent on alcoholic beverages was because he hadn’t a really strong personality. According to the narrator the problem with the liquor progressed little by little and although in the beginning he simply spoke harshly to his wife, he went on to actually abuse her aswell.Â

That story highly reminds me of my dad and me. My own experiences are the following. In terms of my father it appears that he was shearing the same motive as the protagonist of the history. In the time when my father had a trouble with alcohol was a time when he had financial and personal problems. In those days us family was only beginning to expand and us family members organization had suffered blow. Our family was counting of him to supply for everything and he couldn’t keep up. Because of that he started out drinking. He had mention if you ask me that throughout that period the liquor was helped him to flee reality temporally. The result from drinking was frustration and anger; he was rude and angry towards us. Those are of the define addition property of equality similarities I seen between the narrator and my father.

To sum up, people with alcohol problems usually are having problems in their lives and they are trying to escape from their website in order fell good or not to feel some thing. Alcohol leads to many implications physical and social ones as well. Perhaps the people that wrap up having such addictions currently have problems with health, social and other problems, but in my opinion it usually happens to weaker people. People who have strong personalities tend to have an improved control over their lives, and although both the narrator might have been a strong character, just like my father he could possibly be going right through a rough phase in his life.
